Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in my everyday life. Home, travel, food, lifestyle.

ON BEING FRIENDS

ON BEING FRIENDS

There are times in life when we might misread a situation or take things out of context. Perhaps signals are crossed which has one person believing the other wanted more. Or there is a difference between the actions shown in person and words expressed beforehand.

Sometimes, the case is that there is a fear of moving forward or a lack of knowledge of how to do go about doing so. Also, years of doing things on your own does not always make it easy to change, particularly as we age. Whatever the case, we end up sabotaging relationships by overstepping boundaries. Most of the time with no chance for an apology or an explanation, unlike as in those romantic Hallmark Christmas movies.

With the message notifications of the daily interactions of months before now long gone, we feel a void. Months of having shared everyday moments of life now seem to have been useless and a waste of time. We wonder what the point was. What is the lesson we need to learn?

Without communication, nothing good comes out of such situation as assumptions are made or grudges are held. We then make the choice to close ourselves off to any further attempts at close friendships and continue in our safe environment. Or we simply write the other person off with no thoughts at all.

The longer we allow silence to dominate our choices, the further away we drift from what could have been something worth exploring in a different setting. Or it could be that this was the best thing that happens to us. The lessons are ours to carry forward as we meet other people and rethink the words ‘As long as we focus on being friends…I am sure we’ll be fine’. Because friendship is where lasting relationships begin.
