Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in my everyday life. Home, travel, food, lifestyle.

HOMEMADE REMEDY

HOMEMADE REMEDY

I was awake early for a Saturday morning. Whilst browsing at my computer, I got a text from my boss. She knew I was sick, so she let me know of a cold and cough remedy involving whiskey, lemon, and honey. It came from an old church lady, she stated.

It reminded me of something similar that my mom made for me as a child whenever I got sick. Though she made the homemade remedy with a Croatian plum brandy, or Slivovitz. I decided to make some of that cough medicine for me and my son.

Into two small glasses, I squeezed some lemon juice, added two teaspoons of raw honey, then poured some brandy into the glasses and stirred it all together. We then drank that up before our breakfast and hoped it would help with our illnesses.

Shortly before noon, we went to pick up my daughters and a friend to take them to The Domain. But first we stopped by REI to pick up my son’s snow pants that he still needed. After dropping of the three girls by Brandy Melville, Sage and I went to Dick’s Sporting Goods and Whole Foods.

Both my son and I thought the girls would be wandering about the outdoor shopping mall for longer than they did, as we also wanted to wander around a bit ourselves. Though we both felt under the weather, we needed to get out of the house for a while and walk around.

After dropping off the girls at the other home, my son asked if I wanted to go somewhere else. Translated, this meant that he was not ready to go home yet. Neither was I. We ended up going to the Savory Spice Shop to look for popcorn seasonings. However, we did not find what we wanted. Then we went to Barnes and Noble and finally to Starbucks, where we shared a pumpkin loaf. It was far too late to drink coffee.

In the evening, we ate dinner and talked about possibly staying at these apartments a bit longer than we had planned. I shared with him my idea of a wall unit for the dining area. It would be a while until I could get that, but it would be a great piece for the majority of my kitchen and dining items, as well as some cookbooks. Making this place feel cozier and comfier is the goal. As with all good things, it will take a little more time to get there.
