Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in my everyday life. Home, travel, food, lifestyle.

A SLOW CREATIVE MONTH

A SLOW CREATIVE MONTH

Hats of July 2025

July has come to an end. The last full month of summer before school begins again. In two weeks. There was no summer vacation this year. Nothing exciting planned, as the move took all of my energy and the desire to do anything. Even setting up this place.

The apartment abounds with boxes and furniture still not set up. Though I have managed to carve out sleeping places for us. The dark pine dining table I use for work stands on its side, propped up against my bedroom door, which is forever open. Its four legs are somewhere in the living room and the hardware to those legs are in a plastic bag on the floor in my bedroom, underneath a small wooden stool. Next to the bag of bolts and nuts and washers for my queen-sized black metal bed. All around I am surrounded by boxes, mostly of books and Lego sets yet unopened. Many of which my son has not seen, but will at some point in the future.

I have moved far too much in my lifetime. Even within this city. And no, I do not come from a military family. Something kids used to ask me whenever we moved to a new place. It’s the unrest. The search for something more. For now, I need to be here. But not for too much longer.

A twin mattress is what I currently sit on to do my work during the day. And the knitting. Pillowcases full of hand dyed yarns, stored carefully in plastic Ziploc bags, await their turn to be made into one of my Trident hats. But July was a slow creative month, as I have managed to knit up only five hats.

August will be a better month, both creatively and in general. With the goal of knitting up twice the number of hats that I knit up this month. I also look forward to a week away from work. A week to relax and spend time in nature with family.
