Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in my everyday life. Home, travel, food, lifestyle.

THE EXTRA HOUR

THE EXTRA HOUR

I awoke to a grey foggy morning sky. It was peaceful.

Our special Sunday breakfast was puffy pancake. With freshly whipped cream and fresh strawberries. And Croatian coffee. This newest version of my recipe resulted in a ‘not-so-puffy’ pancake after it deflated, as I decreased the amount of flour and milk I used in the past. My son remarked how he liked this version a bit better, especially with the addition of poppy seeds, because it didn’t feel like he was eating a lot of food.

The extra hour we received today due to Daylight Savings Time ending made it seems like the day went on forever. My son was looking for a wooden train kit that I got him a few years ago. It was somewhere amongst the remaining boxes in the dining area. I am certain I moved it to the closet in his bedroom, but I then looked through the boxes after breakfast as my son went to his room to relax.

The coffee kicked in and I ended up doing far more than I had anticipated. My vision for the large red bookcase with sliding glass doors having finally been realised. Instead of using the small nook-like area in the living room for a television, which I do not even own, I had always wanted to put my bookcase there so I could look at my collection of books. Games would go into the bottom part and a few Lego sets would decorate the top part of the cabinet.

At some point, I had to stop as I wasn’t feeling so well. Doing too much whilst feeling under the weather is not the best idea. I decided to take a break and went to the store to get the few remaining ingredients I needed to make a Southwest Bowl for dinner. Like the one at the movie theatre we sometimes eat.

My son and I enjoyed our dinner together. Sitting together at the table during meals is something I’ve always cherished and is an important part of family life. The rest of my Sunday I spent making some travel plans and texting with my girls.

Sometimes we put off doing the things we need or want to do because it seems we might have all the time in the world to get them done. Today, I gladly took advantage of the extra hour.
