Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in my everyday life. Home, travel, food, lifestyle.

SOMEWHERE IN IDAHO

SOMEWHERE IN IDAHO

The plan was to go across the border to Canada today. However, plans have a way of changing. Particularly when there are car problems. With a total of eight people and only one car that could safely hold five people, we had no choice but to cancel our plans and stay home. We would not be needing the passports that we brought along.

Yesterday’s drive from the airport in Spokane, Washington to across the border to Idaho was a tight squeeze with the four of us in the back seat of the Toyota 4Runner and my mom and Roman in the front seat. But we made it to our destination. It took about an hour and a half to get there. Up a mountain. Somewhere in Idaho.

We took a walk early in the morning. Over a mile each way. The air was crisp and cool. It was very refreshing and unlike the humidity in Texas. The nature reminded me of Oregon. My son picked up rocks and pine cones along the way. He was delighted to be outside in the countryside with nothing more than tall pine trees around us.

The rest of the day we stayed indoors, each of us doing different things. My younger daughter picked wildflowers for my mom, arranging them carefully into a beautiful bouquet. My son played with the two kittens, whilst my older daughter stayed in bed and watched YouTube videos. I was busy figuring out what else I needed to buy for the cakes I had planned to bake.

Later in the evening, I went to a store to buy ingredients for baking. I had two cakes that I wanted to bake and brought the specialty cake pans with us. A heart-shaped red velvet cake for Saffron, that I still owed her for her birthday, and a filled chiffon cake for my mom. It was dark by the time I made it back. Clear star-filled skies and 18 degrees Celsius. Our second day was over.
