SAFFRON'S 19TH BIRTHDAY
Today we celebrated my daughter Saffron’s 19th birthday. The final year of her teenage years.
All three children sat around the glass table outside on the balcony as we enjoyed breakfast together.
I made crepes with ricotta cheese filling and another filling option of caster sugar with lemon juice. We also had Nutella, freshly whipped cream, and lots of berries. Strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. And freshly squeezed orange juice.
Before the girls arrived, we drove to HEB to get the oranges and lemons. In fact, Sage drove there and back. A mini lesson today on a familiar road. He was much more focused today. We also stopped by Black Rock Coffee to get more medium roast coffee beans for the espresso machine. But we ended up not having our cappuccinos today.
After we ate breakfast, we had a few presents to give my daughter. A card and some art supplies. Sage bought her canvases that ended up being too large, so we need to replace those. But she liked the iridescent acrylic paints he got her. The metallic ones she had already from a few years ago, but I got her some more.
I had noticed that Saffron parked her Jeep in the parking spot under the tree. Also known as ‘Randy’s spot’. His car was parked right next to hers, as he returned home shortly after the girls arrived. As soon as Saffron and Cinnamon left, we correctly predicted that Randy would go outside to move his car. When we got in our car to go return the pack of canvases, we saw Randy walk to his car and move it in the spot under the tree. I still don’t understand why he does that all the time.
The birthday celebration was short. All that mattered was that we had some time together, which is rare these days. There was no cake, yet. That will come soon enough when we have more time to spend together.
